Volunteer Spotlight: Meet Daysha

Meet Daysha, our August Volunteer Spotlight.

“Hi everyone! I am Daysha McLain. I live in Oregon, IL, and work at the front desk of a local chiropractic clinic. Something about me that I believe is cool is that I love singing. It brings me a lot of joy. I love serving the Lord, and I am often super silly. I’m grateful to navigate this life with my friends, family, and the Lord!

I have volunteered at RHK since December 5th, 2023, serving every other Tuesday night with the teens. I want to help them prosper in ways they thought they never could and encourage them to believe they are smart and capable of doing what they are called to do. My beautiful friend Kandi (the lovely woman at the front desk at RHK) asked me several times to join, and I am so glad I finally did!

One of my favorite RHK memories is when we all got up and danced the “Church Clap” dance during dinner time. We were singing and dancing so hard, and the room was filled with so much laughter and joy! I was so glad to be part of that! Also, one of the nights the RVC basketball team came, we all worshipped, gathered together, and sang out the song “Break Every Chain.” That was a really sweet time! I will remember these moments forever!

I love the teens, leaders, and atmosphere at RHK! It has been ultimately beneficial for all of us, and it’s great to see all the youth pour in each night to dive deep into God’s Word and to be with others who think like them! I enjoy watching others grow and grow alongside them!

If you are thinking about volunteering at RHK, do it! Volunteers supply an immense amount of support to an amazing organization. Volunteering also helps you seek the face of God, lean on Him, and learn how to serve others. I have learned so much by being at RHK, and I am amazed something like this exists in Rockford. It is a great program, outreach, and a great place for a child!"
