Guest Speakers Share in Teen Program

Updated: Jul 5

Our RHK kids are all too familiar with gangs and the gang activity taking place all around them. The pressure to join is real and strong. At Rock House Kids, we look for opportunities to help equip the kids to avoid being drawn in themselves.

Last week we had some special speakers come and share with our teens.

On Tuesday, Detective Kaera Watson from the Rockford Gang Unit joined us. She talked about gang activity in our area, ways to identify different gangs, and the impact associating with a gang can have on your life. She also shared some of her own stories and how her childhood experiences motivated her choice to become a police officer.

On Thursday, Gary Lundberg, from Rockford Reachout Jail ministry, came and shared about his ministry inside the jail. He brought two former inmates who had been a part of his ministry in the jail who shared their stories with the teens. They showed pictures from the inside of the prison and told how they didn't want teens to wait to get saved in prison. Jesus is available to them now and can help them through life. The men encouraged the teens to turn away from sin and not get involved with drugs, guns, and other things that can get them in trouble.

We are so grateful for each guest who came out to speak with our teens. They not only shared important hard truths with them, but they shared their hearts and showed they cared for our teens.

Thank you!
