Our Facility

Help for Today...Hope for Eternity - Building Expansion

Our Rock House Kids facility is expanding to better meet the needs of our youth and be a more integral part of community development goals for the future of the children.
Construction is currently underway to add:
• A recreational activity center to include a basketball court, a sound booth, and a full projection screen.
• A teen area which will include three new classrooms, and a lounge area with computers and a library to help with their homework.
• A game room and additional restrooms.

Fall 2020 - Mural Completion

The dream of having a mural finally came to fruition thanks to the help of an anonymous donor and grants awarded by NW Homestart and the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois, The Rockford Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, Rockford Area Arts Council, and Rockford Art Deli. The mural beautified the neighborhood. Now, you can’t miss Rock House Kids if you are driving South on 7th Street towards Broadway.

Spring 2020 - Kitchen Renovation

The “mom and pop” warming kitchen was in need of a renovation for some time and the upgrade to a commercial-grade kitchen was both refreshing and long overdue. This would not have been possible without the generous support of the Bradley and Georgann Gummow Family Foundation, Kiwanis Charities of Rockford, Inc. and The Mill Foundation.

Spring/Summer 2018 – Roof Relief!

The roof on our large building was very old and needed replaced. Heavy rains continually sent damaging water into our classrooms and storage areas. Years of repeated patching had reached its limits. Contractors told us it was time to tear off the old and put on new.

Fall 2017

With the help of grants received from Club Blue and Woodward Charitable Trust, Rock House Kids opened another new section that includes more classrooms and cafeteria space for our Pebbles (first and second graders), additional office space, a new entry way and a new volunteer center!

Spring 2016

A safe and secure gated play area was added to the south side of our building.

Fall 2015

Tuesday teen nights were started. Our Teen program was growing, so we made Tuesday a Teens Only night. Same format with a hot meal, chapel, and distributing essential items, but mentoring and teaching subjects specific to teen boys and girls. Many of the teens volunteer as helpers with the younger kids on Monday and Wednesday evenings, serving meals, helping pass out seasonal giveaways, and helping our teachers in their classrooms.

Fall 2013

Rock House Kids accepted a donation of additional space right next door. This expansion gave us four additional classrooms, two more bathrooms, and a chapel/large group area! We believe God provided more room for more kids.

October 2007

With financial contributions, building material donations and hours of hard work by our volunteers, Rock House Kids opened seven new classrooms, allowing us to separate the children into age groups. Kitchen and bathrooms were also updated, and our chapel was modified to accommodate a larger number of kids.
