Melissa Campbell

Melissa Campbell joined the Rock House Kids family in April 2016 as the part-time Bookkeeper. Her role has grown over time and is now the full-time Finance Coordinator and assists with our building maintenance and repairs. Melissa enjoys each part of her job and calling. Yes, she feels to really fulfill (and be fulfilled by) her position in a Christian-based nonprofit it is a calling. She is glad to be here and help these kids - God’s kids.  Being here as long as she has, she has seen so many changes from the building to staff to our kids to our volunteers.  From receiving monetary donations to paying our bills to seeking out new stops for our Bigs Eats Tour fundraisers, she's thankful to be part of this mission.

Born and raised in the greater Rockford area, Melissa attended and graduated from the Harlem School District.  She was blessed to marry her best friend, Don, in 2003. They have two daughters, Madisen and Piper. They attend Riverside Community Church in Machesney Park. While family life keeps her busy, she enjoys live music, camping, gardening, and cooking. One of her favorite local places is Rock Cut State Park where she spent many childhood summers. Her family still spends quite a bit of time there hiking, camping, and having picnics. She loves getting out into nature, recharging, and thanking God for all of the beauty He has given us to enjoy.

From Melissa, "God is always on the move, even when we can't see it. As humans, we want what we want when we want it, but more often than not, God has something else, something better in mind for us. He knows what we need before we do. We must have faith and hold on. God does not falter; He does not make mistakes. Everything is done for a reason and purpose. What we worry about, we're not trusting God fully with. We have to learn to step back, slow down, breathe, and listen for God to speak.

One of my favorite quotes comes from Jonathan Evans. I heard him speaking with Trent Shelton on Trent's podcast, Straight Up with Trent Shelton. He said, "Faith is acting like it so, even when it's not so, so that it may be so simply because God said so." That's it. Pure and simple. We are to have simple, child-like, unwavering faith."

"What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?" Romans 8:31
