Kathy Holliday Bio

Kathy joined the staff of Rock House Kids at the end of October 2023 as a grant researcher/writer. Although originally from the northwest Chicago suburbs, she has lived in Loves Park for the past 40 years, coming here as a newlywed and new graduate with degrees in journalism and English. Before moving here, she worked as a news reporter and feature writer for a group of suburban newspapers. The early years of her Rockford career included work as a community relations writer for a local hospital and as an editor and technical writer for local and suburban machine tool manufacturers. In the past several years she was employed by Temple Baptist Church (now Crosspoint Church) and First Free.

Kathy trusted Jesus for salvation when she was 12 after hearing the Gospel presented by a college student who was part of Campus Crusade for Christ (now CRU). The basis for her decision was simple: with no other way to resolve her sin problem and thus have a relationship, both now and in eternity, with all-holy God, who wouldn’t want to trust Jesus, the best and only Answer?

She and her husband, Bill, have three sons and two daughters, along with a Scottish terrier named Harriett Fiona. During her child-rearing years, Kathy’s spiritual focus was 3 John, verse 4:

“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.”

The highs and lows of motherhood have taught her to trust the Lord to accomplish His work, whether the days are bright or bleak. She is privileged to have a long-time sister-in-Christ and prayer partner to encourage and be encouraged in the work of prayer. Kathy has regularly participated in women’s Bible study groups (taking in) and volunteered in various women’s ministry positions at their church home, as well as serving as a girls’ team leader in Awana for 12 years (giving out).

With her childrearing years behind her, Kathy has sought volunteer and employment opportunities that invest in eternity by building God’s Kingdom. She is truly grateful to become part of Rock House Kids and its unique, Spirit-driven mission to invest in precious, eternal kids.

Her life verses are Philippians 2: 10-11:

“…that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
