Kathy Bartz

Kathy grew up in North Ridgeville, Ohio. Though her family were all teachers, it was her own Biology teacher who inspired her to go into nursing instead. Her career started with her first nursing position in Cleveland, OH.

Though she enjoyed attending church regularly with her family as a child, she went less and less as she got older. She didn’t really place her faith in Jesus as her Lord and Savior until she was a young adult, when she remembered a promise she had made to God when she was 14 years old.

As a new Christian, she wanted to serve and God led her to pursue youth ministry training. She resigned her nursing position in Ohio and was blessed to serve as Director of Christian Education and Youth Ministry at a church here in Rockford for five years.

It was during that time that Kathy met her future husband, Joe and his three children, Jonathan, Elizabeth and Matthew. They married October 13, 2001. Kathy returned to her nursing career and two years later Joe and Kathy were blessed with their daughter, Faith.

Later, Kathy used her teaching and nursing abilities as a Staff Development Coordinator. For 11 years, she trained new employees in Home Health and Hospice. She thought she would retire in this role, but then God planted a new seed in her heart to return to full time ministry. God placed Matthew 9:37-38 on her heart: “…The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore to send out workers into his harvest field.”

Through several people and situations God led Kathy to Rock House Kids and, joyfully, she started as the new Volunteer Coordinator on March 7, 2022. Now, she will be living out Matthew 9:37-38 each day as she trains and develops new volunteers to serve our kids at RHK!

In her free time, Kathy enjoys working outside in her flower beds, finding new restaurants to eat out with her husband and watching their daughter, Faith, at tumbling and trampoline competitions.
