Drivers

IMPORTANT! To ensure the safety of our children and staff, applicants must be 18 years of age and are subject to a background check.

Many of the kids who come to Rock House Kids live in areas that are prone to crime and other unsafe activities. Our drivers must be able and willing to pick up in inner-city areas and housing projects. We use large passenger vans to pick up and drop off kids each night.

To be one of our van drivers, you will need a current driver’s license. A firm, influential approach is ideal. Former bus drivers are perfect for this job!

As with our other Rock House Kids volunteers, our drivers share our vision of providing a safe place, in this case, transportation, while being a positive and Godly role model for the children.

Drivers arrive at RHK no later than 4:45 PM for pick up and finish by 8:30 PM after drop offs at the end of the night Monday through Thursday. Drivers are needed all four nights. We will work with you to determine the night/nights that work best with your schedule. If possible, we ask our drivers to plan to come back to RHK between pick-up and drop offs, just to hangout with the kids. This will help in building trust-based relationships with them.

If you are interested in helping transport our kids, please review our Statement of Faith, then complete our application and return it to us. Upon completion of a background screen, we will contact you to set up a short orientation meeting.

STATEMENT OF FAITH

Our Beliefs:

GOD — We believe there is One God, eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is the second member of the Trinity, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He is truly God and truly man. Matthew 28:19

SCRIPTURE —We accept the Bible as the inspired Word of God. It was written by men, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, is authoritative, and without error. 2 Timothy 3:15, Hebrews 4:12

HUMANITY — We believe every person matters to God. All people were created in the image of God to have a relationship with him, but became separated from God through sinful disobedience. As a result, people are incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through their own efforts. Titus 3:5, 2 Corinthians 5:15, Romans 3:23
SALVATION — We believe that the sacrifice and death of Jesus Christ on the cross provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sin. Therefore, God freely offers salvation to anyone who places their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sins. - Romans 5:8, Romans 10:9, Hebrews 9:12-15

But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”
