2016 Dolas firstDola Gregory

DOLA GREGORY is being honored on Sunday, March 6, 2016 as the “Irish Gallery Woman of the Year.” The museum is open from 2-4 p.m. for tours that day and the program to honor Dola Gregory begins at 3 p.m. in the Lockwood Gallery of the museum. This award is given each year to a citizen who exemplifies community involvement through volunteering, dedication to church and family and community service.  Please join us at the museum for this special occasion.

In 1995 Ms. Gregory became a Licensed Minister and was ordained Minister of Full Gospel Fellowship International Church in 1997. Her vision to help underserved youth led her to opening Rock House Ministries in 1999. She started this mission in a coffee house on Rockford’s Seventh Street for children to gather for support, food and a safe environment. She soon realized that many kids needed a place to go after school through an evening program. She then opened Rock House Kids near Broadway. This space offers free tutoring, hot meals, therapy dogs, dance, and manners classes and even Bible study. Dola continues to serve as Ex.Dir./C.E.O./Founder and hopes to add to the space in the near future. She ia a licensed Bishop ove the Rock House Ministries.  Rock House Kids operates through the generosity of volunteers and public contributions.

Rock House Ministry has expanded to other sites. In 2002 Rock House Ministry II opened in De Monte, Indiana. Dola Gregory received the Citizen Award from WQFL/WGSI in 2009. In 2011 Dola was registered with the National Association of Professional Women. She was given the Boy Scouts of America Prestigious Award Champions of Youth in 2013. For two years (2013, 2014) Ms. Gregory was nominated for the Rockford Register Star Excalibur Award. The YWCA Mentorship Award was given to her in 2014.

Help us celebrate Dola Gregory and her continuing passion to help Rockford’s most in need children. The exhibit honoring Ms. Gregory will be available to see in the Irish Gallery along with the gallery Early Irish Church Saints displays.
