Volunteer CPI Training

At Rock House Kids, we do our best to provide our volunteers with the training and support needed to effectively minister to our kids. CPI (Crisis Prevention and Intervention) Training is key to equipping them with the tools they need.
Our Executive Director, Dee Lacny, is a certified CPI Instructor and leads training workshops throughout the year, as needed, for volunteers wanting to be trained and those who need to renew their certification.
This past Saturday, she led a group of 11 staff and volunteers through this vital training.
The aim of CPI is to teach how to de-escalate a potential crisis situation and to keep all involved safe. Trainees work through various scenarios. They learn how to discern the severity of a situations, the risks involved and the best approach to handling different situations for the best possible outcomes.
The class also learned holds to use in extreme situations which will not hurt the child, but will also help keep them from hurting themselves or others. Of course, holds are reserved for the absolute last resort, but it is important to know them should they be needed.
Please keep our newly trained volunteers in your prayers as they begin to apply their new skills to move effectively serve our kids.
