Rock House Kids is located in a very difficult and crime ridden part of town. Families struggling to survive, “ladies of the night” walking the streets at all times of the day, gang activity is rampant, and police and ambulance sirens fill the air. This is where many of the street or inner city children live. Rock House Kids is committed to breaking the cycle in which these children must survive each day. We help them with physical needs such as a hot meal every night our program is open and a kid friendly take home food bag of items. We also provide coats, hats, gloves and blankets in the wintertime, socks in the spring, flip flops in the summer, school supplies and back packs in the fall and the list goes on and on.
We feel spiritual guidance is very important. We share with the children there is someone who truly loves them unconditionally and cares about their every need and concern; his name is Jesus. Each month our classroom leaders focus on moral character traits; i.e. Thankfulness in November, Christmas in December, Love in February, etc. which helps encourage and strengthens them spiritually.
Our building on Seventh Street is a place of learning and growing. Below are some pictures of the surrounding area of our building but also where the children come for a warm, safe, and nurturing environment.
We hope you too will see the need and want to be a part of the solution. All gifts and donations are appreciated and go towards the effective programs of Rock House Kids. Rock House Kids is a 501 c (3) nonprofit organization and we do not receive any government funding. Please call our office if you would like to volunteer or help out in any way at 815-962-5067. Thank you and bless you.
