Our Facilities

Rock House Kids is a safe and nurturing place for reaching at-risk youth in our community.

In October of 2007 we moved forward on a dream of ours to expand Rock House’s classroom space. With the help of some financial contributions, many donations in materials and many volunteers hours later we have added 7 classrooms to our facility. These classrooms were much needed space. The most obvious improvement is now we are able to separate the children into their age appropriate classrooms. The work is never done. Kitchen and bathroom facilities have been updated to meet the needs of our growing children population. Even our Assembly room has seen changes to accommodate the growth. We are VERY GRATEFUL to all who have helped us in some big and/or small way to make this place a safe place for children.

We continue to dream of more programs and more space and with the help of businesses, grants, churches, and individuals, we have been able to make more improvements as time goes by!

In 2013 we were DONATED additional space right next door! We have added four more classrooms, two bathrooms, and a large group area! It seems that the more space we open up the more children we see coming through our doors each week! We are believing God to help us make more room for more kids. We will continue to open up more space as it becomes available to create more inviting space for kids to feel safe, warm and nurtured.

In the fall of 2015 we opened Tuesday nights just for Teens! Our Teen Leadership program is growing by leaps and bounds so to make more space for everyone, we turned the facility into a Teens only night on Tuesdays. Same format with a hot meal, providing leadership training, giving out backpacks before the beginning of school, warm winter coats with the hats, mittens etc to go along with. We can’t forget Christmas presents too! Many of the Teens will offer to help serve meals and pass out our seasonal giveaways as well as help in the classrooms when needed on the other nights of programming.

DSCN5630 - Copy In the spring of 2016 we built a playground and basketball area on the south side of the building. We had a special ribbon cutting ceremony too!   The kids are truly enjoying this space. We have our volunteers overseeing them while they are in the playground area for their protection.

In 2017 we hosted another ribbon cutting and open house for a new space that included more classrooms, cafeteria space for our Pebbles (first and second graders), more office space, new entry way (see picture)  and new volunteer center! With the help of grants received from Club Blue and Woodward Charitable Trust, we were able to expand and create more space to bring in more children!

With all this growth we will need more volunteers!  If you are interested in helping us, please call our office and ask for a volunteer application. We look forward to hearing from you! Come and watch us grow!

In 2018, an additional night of programming for our Teens will be open! We want to keep them off the streets and give them good resources to develop into responsible young adults! This is the next generation!

In the years to come, we plan on improving our building even more and adding a gymnasium! The at risk children population in Rockford continues to increase! We will make sure to keep the community up to date on these changes. If you can help in financial assistance, we would be grateful. We do not receive any financial help from the government.
